The Darebin Art Show (DAS) is a biennial exhibition of contemporary visual arts and crafts celebrating the diverse talent of the City of Darebin’s artistic community. The Council acquires works to the value of $3,500 for its public art collection and also sponsors a $500 People’s Choice Award. The Darebin Art Show is open to all artists who live, work or learn within the boundaries of the municipality.
This year the work of 125 artists is on display. Winners of the 2010 Awards are Nick Stella for his painting Hearing the Music: A Portrait of Christos Tsiolkas; Jodi Wiley for her painting Tree (detail) and Jason Emilianowicz for his painting Untitled.
Previous winners include: Eolo Paul Bottaro, Jarrod Atkinson, Ju Yuen Merran Chew, Phil Harris and John Sheehan.
